These events share one surface fact: the person is no longer held at Abingdon. They do not share the same legal or practical result.
For a Wise County matter, the arresting agency may be the Wise County Sheriff and the case may be heard in the Wise/Norton General District Court or Wise Circuit Court. SWVRJA, however, holds the regional-jail event record. Keep agency, court, and building as separate fields. Check Abingdon Release Status
The SWVRJA current-facility inmate gateway covers current regional custody. Research found no verified 24-hour, 72-hour, or historical Abingdon release view. It also found no official update cadence or online former-record retention period. Do not turn a current roster into a release archive by inference.
Check the event in a fixed order, and save the exact wording each source displays.

Request arrest reports from the agency that made them. Obtain judicial orders and dispositions from the relevant clerk. Ask SWVRJA for Abingdon admission, movement, release, and booking-photo records. These are related sources, but none should be treated as the custodian of every part of the case.
Abingdon and Wise Geography
Abingdon is not the single Wise County jail. It is one part of a regional authority. Wise County's own services guide points to Duffield as the identified adult jail resource, while the Authority can move people across its four facilities. If the booking began at Duffield and later appears at Abingdon, that is regional movement unless a record shows otherwise.
Wise County also contains three state correctional facilities: Red Onion State Prison, Wallens Ridge State Prison, and Wise Correctional Unit. Those facilities use VADOC custody, locator, release, and notification routes. A person housed at Abingdon on a Wise case uses SWVRJA and court channels. Physical connection to Wise County does not merge regional and state records.

Note: Always write down the locality of arrest, court, jail building, operator, and destination as distinct facts.
Abingdon Evidence Hierarchy
When sources disagree, rank them by the question they answer. A signed court order is strongest for the judicial basis. It may precede actual release processing. The SWVRJA event is strongest for when Abingdon ended custody. A receiving-agency record is strongest for proof of a transfer. VINE is a prompt notice, while the roster speaks only to present display status.
Record the source, retrieval time, person identifier, building, exact status, event time, and destination. If the destination is empty, use cautious wording: the person left the displayed custody system, and the destination is unverified. Contact both the clerk and Authority if their dates conflict.
This method is especially important for Wise County cases because one record trail can cross the Sheriff, a Wise or Norton court, four SWVRJA buildings, VADOC, and a later supervising office. A single no-match cannot clear all those systems.
Abingdon Transfers to ICE
A jail event can say released even when ICE or another authority receives the person. Treat the destination as the controlling clue. First obtain the Abingdon release event. If immigration custody is named, use the ICE system for the next stage rather than describing the jail departure as freedom from custody.
ICE states that ODLS includes people currently detained or released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. This verified window applies only to ICE's public extract. It does not create an Abingdon recent-release list. Once older entries leave that extract, a no-match cannot prove the transfer or ICE release did not occur. Authorized records, counsel, immigration-case materials, or ICE FOIA may be required.

Current Virginia Code § 2.2-3706(A)(1) addresses photographs of adult arrestees taken during routine intake. A law-enforcement public body must provide a qualifying photo on a proper request, though it may delay disclosure in a felony matter while release would jeopardize an investigation. That access rule does not require permanent web publication. Juvenile, sealed, protected, security-sensitive, or other exempt material follows separate limits.
For an Abingdon record, give SWVRJA the full name, known alias, approximate booking date, booking number, and Wise or Norton case number when lawfully known. Ask for the routine adult booking photograph plus the admission and release-event identifiers that connect it to the right custody segment.
